Biography
Christopher de Lotbinière is a painter and printmaker, based in New York City.
He received an MA in English Literature from Cambridge University in 1976. Between 1985 and 1989 he attended the Chelsea and Byam Shaw Schools of Art in London and received a degree in Fine Art.
Since 1987, he has had seven, highly successful One Man Shows in London, three of them at Leighton House Museum.
In 1992, he shared a show, inspired by Venice, with the glass maker Dale Chihuly, in Aspen, Colorado. Since 1995, he has lived and worked in New York City, with his wife and two daughters.
He is currently working on a series of paintings and prints inspired by the classical ideals and discoveries made by architects of the Italian Renaissance, particularly Andrea Palladio, Donato Bramante and Sebastiano Serlio. How Italian ideas were adapted by such English architects as Inigo Jones and Sir John Vanbrugh, has led to the creation of a series of etchings and screen prints based on the traditions of English Classicism and Italian Church architecture.
